Pete's 40

Drawing done by Tom "The Giant" Nye
The truck was purchased by Pete in 1954. It was then used to tow his jalopy to race at the Oakland Speedway. In 1956
Pete got married and his wife didn't think circle track racing was a great idea. Plus the Oakland Speedway had been
torn down to make way for the Bayfair Shopping Center. So Pete decided to drag race the 40 and competed in the
Hot Pickup class at Half Moon Bay, Fremont and Kingdon. In the late 50's Pete got bored with drag racing and started
showing the truck. In 1961 three major things happened. Pete got a divorce, opened the original House of Wheels in
San Leandro and returned to his love of circle track racing.
Over the past 50 years, Pete's 40 has been shown at almost every car show to be held in Northern California and has
the distinction of being entered 9 times at the Grand National Roadster Show. (Oakland, San Francisco, San Mateo, Pomona)
